The business community of Sialkot has vowed to discharge its social responsibility and is using all resources for the rehabilitation of quake affected people of the country, said the President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Dr Nouman Idris Butt.

Talking to Business Recorder here on Thursday he disclosed that hospital machinery costing more than Rs 3 crore would be provided within couple of days in 100 bed-hospital of Balakot established by the business community of Sialkot. The step has been taken for ensuring the maximum facility of surgery and medical treatment to the people of Balakot and its adjoining areas, he added.

Dr Nouman further said that articles of daily use, tents, medicines and blankets amounting to Rs 7 crore had far been dispatched to quake affected areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP areas so far. In addition to this, the business community of this export-oriented city and hub of cottage industry of the country had already adopted 500 earthquake affected families, he disclosed.

Dr Nouman Butt said that business community of Sialkot will bear Rs 3.60 crore, the expenditures of 500 affected families for one year.

Apart from this, local business community was taking active part in the construction of houses for providing shelter to the quake-stricken people of Azad Kashmir and NWFP, he added.
